Whatcha need this cu·cum·ber for?
Is your Religious Liberty being threatened?
I work in the hospitality industry as a Director of Sales with IHG. I have often wondered that if I were a real prudent Quaker type person and I suspected that a male guest accompanied by a one night stand was checking into my hotel, would I be able to deny him a room because my religion did not agree with what he was doing?
Trust me, I do not care what anyone does in my hotel rooms as long as it is not destructive. I never cared at all, but of course I am not one of those nosy holier than thou type.
Why is it that we see this audacity so much in today’s conservative thinkers ?
I was thinking about this because memes I had posted two years ago are popping back on my Facebook memories, and although I had forgotten about Kim Davis, she will forever live on in the annals of the inter-web.
For those that may not remember or need a reminder, Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis gained international attention in August 2015 when she defied a U.S. federal court order to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, following the June 26, 2015, U.S. Supreme Court decision in Obergefell v. Hodges. She claimed that it was against her religious beliefs and that she was acting “under God’s authority”.
I know that we have also heard about bakeries refusing to bake cakes for gay weddings and bakers refusing to make a pro-Trump cake for a 9-year-old boys birthday party.
The gay wedding cake refusal is an affront to the religious belief of that baker, the pro trump cake bakers opposition is a matter of taste and well having a brain.
We may not always like it, but if you are in business and you are selling a product, then sell it. Do we really need to bring religion or moral principles into this?
A grocer might ring up a cucumber for someone – does that grocer know that the person is buying that cucumber to slice up for a salad or to manually insert into a body orifice? Who cares?
Kim Davis would probably want to know the reason you buy a cucumber and a bottle of wine on a Friday night and nothing else.
Wouldn’t that be a hoot to hear her rant that God intended the cucumber for us to eat and not to treat? “People shouldn’t stick things up their butts or vagina” and then have a DonkeyMaster 2000 diesel-powered vibrator fly out her meat socket?
She is still a hypocrite nonetheless.
I really hated it when Bill Clinton’s past indiscretions were brought up during the 2016 Presidential race by the immature trump in an attempt to hurt and derail Hillary Clinton.
Hillary has taken a lot of grief over this over the years and she could’ve walked away from it all but instead they worked it out and stayed married. To me, this is a couple that loves each other and 42 years of marriage so far is to be commended considering their positions, not ridiculed.
I’m sure we have heard about the sanctity of marriage will be ruined forever if marriage Equality becomes law from many conservatives that are already on their third marriage because they cheated on the previous spouse with the soon to be new one, just like Donald J. Trump.
Well Ms Davis’ first three marriages ended in divorce in 1994, 2006, and 2008; she then remarried her second husband in 2009. She gave birth to twins five months after divorcing her first husband. They were fathered by her third husband but adopted by her second.
The person who had been married 4 times had some nerve. And they say that we are ruining the sanctity of marriage.
Is that not a hypocrite by definition? Are Bible verses just meant to be doled out to others even if you are guilty yourself?
So which parts of the bible teachings should we be concerned about?
All? A tad? A Smidge?
Or just the parts that will allow you to exclude certain people?
If I had a nickel for every time I have seen or read verses from the Book of Leviticus being hurled at others as proof that being gay is wrong, I would have $1765.15.
Leviticus relates the laws pertaining to proper conduct. The traditional laws on marriage, and the prohibitions against adultery, incest, and homosexuality are explicit in Leviticus Chapters 18-19.
This alone is their Aha! moment. There it is in black and white in a book written by mortal men. That is all the proof that is needed and all the back up they have.
Conservatives always forget to mention that there is more and that Leviticus goes on to tell us that we are to refrain from tattoos (19:28) or consult fortune tellers (19:31) but the dog probably ate parts of that particular page or their vision has suddenly gone all Helen Keller on them.
Here is a good one that pertains to trump:
And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to a husband, and not at all redeemed
nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
I wish there was a verse that stated that thou shall not grab thine women’s pussyeth.
I will probably never consider the Bible as the true Word of God.
I do believe in God. I don’t believe in mankind, at least not anymore. The hateful things that Republicans and conservatives do and say in Gods name is enough to make anyone who has not been saved and found Peace in His Mercy , turn away from any religion because all that has been displayed is hate and discrimination against any one different from what they are and to me that misses the whole point of being Christian.
If the conservative “christians” continue this charade of being Godly and self-righteous as they continue to try to force their own Sharia Law on us, then what hope is there?
They will maintain that their Religious Liberties are being threatened but what of everyone else and their religious liberties?
This country used to make exceptions to the law for people of faith, like the Amish father who first got the Supreme Court’s permission to take his children out of school in 1972, based on his religious commitment to ‘‘life aloof from the world,’’ as the justices respectfully put it.
Now we recently had eight of nine Justices of the Supreme Court say that Samantha Elauf a Muslim woman who had been fired for wearing her head scarf to work, was asking for “favored treatment” even though she was protected by federal employment law.
“This is really easy” said Justice Anthony Scalia, may he rest in pieces.
How is your religious liberty at risk?
Is it because others are allowed to go to religious services of their own choosing?
Is it because some states refuse to enforce your own particular religious beliefs on marriage on those two guys in line down at the courthouse?
You are unable to force others to not use birth control or not allowed to force others to pray the prayers of your faith publicly?
Is it because you are no longer allowed to use your faith to bully gay kids with impunity or a religious community you do not like wants to build a house of worship in your community?
I bet it’s because public school science classes are teaching science.
These people don’t really give a shit if you pray or don’t. No one really cares if you believe in God.
The most it is just important that you know that they do or at least they want you to think they do.
It’s very easy to tell the hypocrites from the real Christians.
The hypocrites are the ones that use God as a reason to hate and discriminate.
They are the ones that want to govern the United State of America by the bible.
Pray when you want or don’t. If you do, please do not make a show out of it like Tim Tebow. I am not impressed when you show me how loud or how often you pray.
Be humble. That is more impressive to me.
Be kind, don’t be a dick
God is still speaking………but not to them.
